Let's ease my job here by categorise it to SHORT TERM, MID TERM and LONG TERM goals.

My Short-Term Goals for 2012. (3 weeks)

To complete my registration into UniSIM.
Spend less, Save more!
Perform better in work... ...

My Mid-Term Goals for 2012. (3 months)

Get myself trained up and be ready for Armour Road Relay (ARR).
Start school.
IPPT GO for GOLD!
Get my car license.
Have a decent amount of $$ in my bank account.

My Long-Term Goals for 2012. (3 years)

Have a decent amount of $$ in my bank account.
Have a decent girlfriend who love me as much as I love her.
Hopefully half way through my studies.
Get a bike license.

Food Hunt @ Strictly Pancakes

Recently, I had been going around pestering my friend to try Strictly Pancakes with me.

And finally, today is the day! The day where you guys normally called it T.G.I.F?

For people who are oblivious about Strictly Pancakes, it is located directly opposite POMO, which I believed it is used to be called as Paradise Centre.

If you guys are sick of having rice or noodle for lunch, Strictly Pancakes served both Salted and Sweet pancakes to fulfill our taste bud.

Jonas and I ordered Benedict the Thief and Garlic Buttered Prawn. Both were equally unique and it tasted good!

Benedict The Thief ($14): It comes with two poached eggs resting on top of a slice of turkey ham and two extra thick pancakes with an additional sausage-liked companion: Chicken Chipolata ($2.50)

Garlic Buttered Prawn ($14): 3 times pancakes served with prawns buttered with garlic and with additional bacon and sauteed mushrooms.

I had the garlic buttered prawn and it was fantastic. For the start, I thought having 3 stack of pancakes is not enough but it's not the case.

According to food reviews, Strictly Pancakes served mouth watering desserts. But unfortunately, I was too full to try their desserts. But not to worry. Because I'm sure I'll be back to try their Banana Scotched Pancakes - Caramelised bananas sizzled in pan with a dash of rum drizzled over the stack of pancakes and served with scoop of vanilla ice cream.

How could you resist the temptation?

I can't!

That's why I'm going back!

The claw that is same length as PS' face. Look closely, it's not the entire claw of the crab. It's only half of it and it's that huge le!

The bill came... hahah!!! One word, "SHOCKED" it's my first time having a $100+ crab.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the time we had together. My friendship with PS and XY had came to the twelfth years and I knew it on going and will get stronger in future.

Christmas is over and now, I'm eagerly awaiting for the arrival of 2012.

Why am I so eager?

Simply because 2011 wasn't a great year for me.

Lots of things happened which I don't wish to mention it anymore or even at ALL!

Anyway, life has to go on no matter how hard it is. Having a pile of shit piling up in front of me wouldn't stop me from moving on. The most I know I'll be damn 'stinky' during the journey. But once I reaches the finishing line, I'll smile to myself and thank myself for not stopping at the pile of shit but to move on.

Let's cut all the crap and just get thing started. I'll just keep things simple.

Travel Around the World 2011:

Batam
...with friends from 41 SAR, HAWK Company.
Taiwan
...with Zhongliang and JR.
Penang
...with Mum, Aunties, Uncles, Cousins and Clarence.
Bangkok
... with my my poly friends namely Jessica, Annabel and Cheng Yao...
...not to forget Yongjie, Clarence and our Mr. Fashionista, Zhou Zixian.
Australia..with 40SAR and 42SAR.

And not forgetting the countless numbers of trips to Johor Bahru... ... ...

Looking at the number of time I traveled this year, somehow I knew where my money had flied to. Taiwan trip is the killer! CCB! Nonetheless, during every trip I went to, I learnt many things. From cultures to even knowing my friends more. This are things that you will feel, "oh! worth my money"

I really enjoyed travel so so so much! Hopefully next coming year will be another adventurous year filled with adventurous trips to countries I never been to!

Work Like Dog 2011:

By looking at the title of this work part I don't have to mention much right? Work for the first half of the year were great.

I got my promotion from a pathetic one bar junior officer to a current two bar officer!

During June 2011, I left 41 SAR, Hawk Company and moved on to ABGTC.

Being in a unit, you really see many different kind of people. I really enjoyed my stay in unit because every single one in the company really brighten my day.

As for now, in this current ABGTC, I really can't feel much. I felt as if I had fell from heaven all the way down to hell. I'm literally dragging myself to work everyday. Every single one is doing thing for their own purpose or for their promotion and own interest. It's so unlike unit life. People in ABGTC are plain selfish. Trust me. If you were in my shoe, you will understand.

I had lose all faith on work. Or maybe in ABGTC. I had slowly came to realise why so many regulars left their job after finishing their bond.

How will you not lose your interest when you are working with a group of 'shit stirrer'?

Thank god there are still kind people in the unit whom I called Friends...

Other than that, I gonna take this chance to wish all my fellow officer friend from AIOCC 01/10 who had ORD on June 2011, all the best and good luck to them in whatever they are doing or fulfilling now!

Not forgetting sending off my previous bunk mate, Solomon bitch...

Leaving behind all the sorrows and unhappiness that I had created during the entire trip and I'm once again stepping back onto this land of REALITY.

First thing that hit me when I'm back are all the SMRT bullshits.

*shrug*

Seriously, I don't give a damn on this because it doesn't really affect or concern me much. So far SMRT is treating me well, for the past few days when I'm taking their service out to town I don't face any issue. I'm not trapped in the train, my bus doesn't go 'hollanded' or the train I took didn't caught fire half way... ...

So Singaporeans who are like me, not involved in any of the above situations can seriously just shut the fuck up and stop rubbing salt onto 'SMRT' wound.

Talking about holiday...

Good food... ... hmmm... ...

Of course.

My weight don't lie. I had gained 5kg for the entire Penang Trip.

It's all about eating, eating and still EATING... ...

But what to do? It's a land full of good food!

Once you stepped onto Penang, fuck care about all the diet.

Just EAT!

Not to forget, going on an oversea trip with my cousins can be real chaotic. We are always doing silly things and laughing throughout the entire trip. =)

To be frank, I'm missing all of them and the fun we had right here, right now. And of course I also miss every single one of them whom are not in the picture...

Other than going on a trip with my Mum, Aunty and cousins, I had invited Clarence to tag along with me too.

Knowing that he's so stressful over work in Singapore and I guess it's really a good time for him to relax... but I doubted he did enjoy himself... =/

I felt kinda bad for making his trip a bit or maybe very unpleasant. Maybe as a friend, I could be more aware of what is happening around me. Rather than being so playful, I think it's really time to convert all my 'youth' energy to something more beneficial to others.

Maybe to care for people around me more.

I'm always blinded by all the fun I had and forgetting how others feel.

I'm changing, I'm changing! Really! >=/

Nonetheless, I know something are bothering him but I don't how to help. But even if I offered my help will he need my?

But I'll never stop trying to help. That's the least I could help.

食字路口 (1) with Jinrong on the 270211 was a success. We managed to start of the game with 四季鲜果刨冰 and ended with 甘草梅. We completed the game with a total of 7 'dishes'.

It's also just happened that both of us had a hard time linking name of the food today. We are stucked for hours looking and linking up food. We didn't made it my favorite 永和豆花. The entire food hunt took us 6 hours and we ended at 2am in the morning.

Seriously I don't understand what have this world turned into?

Looking at those articles that were posted lately online really made me upset.

This poor dog was tied and dragged by a car. Those fuckers who did this should deserved a punch on their fucking faces and tried being drag by car.

Upon looking at this photo it really break ones heart. A dog has feelings either. It will feel the pain as well. Why are they still doing all this to them?!

For fun? Not funny.

Just when I thought it's over, I scrolled down and I saw a photo of this 3 fuckers skinning the cat alive. And but looking at their expressions they were obviously skinning the cat for fun! I pray to god that they will stay poor forever!

But I might be wrong, maybe consuming cats to them is just like us consuming animals like deers? If the thing I'm saying is true then I'll take back my words. But looking at their expressions it doesn't convinced me that I'm wrong thou. Fucking. All humans will go to hell!

There's more photos on animal abuse that I saw on Facebook. I'm just too lazy to find. If not this entire entry will be filled with bastards ill treating animals!

But what shocked me wasn't the above. It's the case on a van that hit a 2 year old baby girl abd fed. 18 fucking passerbys walked pass the seriously injured body but none of them reached out to help the baby girl. It is until a older woman who helped her and called for help.

Fucking 18 fuckers walked pass her and don't even help?

What kind of world is this? Where are all their hearts? Eaten by dogs?

Looking at this kind of human behavior, I think I got nothing to say but to sit at home and wait for the gods to end this world and start a new evolution. :(

Recently, I had been haunted by durians. Conversations, calls, messages, whatsapp, Facebook, and every little things around me were just Durians, Durians and Durians.

It triggered me and that's the reason why Rondy and I went hunting for durians last night. We sat down with 3 medium size durians and started eating. As usual when we meet up, we'll start spouting nonsenses.

We came out using durian to describe our friendship.

Our friendship is as tough as a durian. The route we went through is like the taste of a durian, sweet and bitter which symbolized the ups and downs in our friendship. The color of the durian, green, symbolized both of us signing our life away to the force. Lol!!

It feels good to have a friend you knew nearly 20 years to sit down with you spouting nonsenses and eating durian together.

Friendship is just weird. The more you hoping to have one with someone, the more you wouldn't get. Maybe that's the beauty of life/ friendship. =)

Like a flower in the sky

After so long, we finally met up for a class gathering at Jurong Central Park for some kite flying session. It's my first time flying a kite and I, seriously felt like a kid.

Flying a kite wasn't as difficult as I thought. And I realised that flying a bigger kite is actually easier than flying a small sized kite. Some other factors are the right time, right wind direction, right method and up your kite goes! Without these, chances are, your kite wouldn't fly~

Looking up, kites in different colors, shapes and sizes resembled flowers in the sky. And not forgetting smiles and laughters from the kids and families around us. How beautiful.

Although most of the guys couldn't make it for the gathering, but I was glad that Huda and Wati came. It has been 5 years since we last met. I can say not much of a change.

We sat down in a group sharing jokes and talking about the notorious act we did in the past filled the park with our laughter.

I really missed those days. And I really do.

Giving up on something doesn't mean that I am weak. Sometimes, it can simply means that I am STRONG enough to let go.

Few weeks ago, Clar and I were jio-ed by Minkai to join the DEEP SKIN event hosted by Wave House, Sentosa.

I was kinda looking forward for this event, BACK THEN. But when I was in the party yesterday, I really asked myself, "what the fuck am I doing down here?"

At the price of $28, there's NOTHING.

All right, maybe two things:

Party with the 'beautiful' ladies of FHM which I don't really give a damn on it. The statement itself make them sound so slutty.
2 hours of free flow MIDORI SUMMER ILLUSION SHOT ONLY!! Some fuckers told us is a free flow of hard liqueurs. But in actual fact, it's only Midori~ but I got to say that Midori Melon Liqueur is one of the best liqueur I had ever tasted.

So, despite the nothing and boring event, we made ourselves useful by forking out some extra cash to go for FLOWRIDING.

Unfortunately, Clar didn't joined us due to some cold hard cash issue. I had the urged to get a ticket for him then. I really don't enjoy going out with good friends and we couldn't enjoy the fun together. =/

Nonetheless, I hope they had a great time yesterday! Cause I seriously enjoyed myself yesterday. The event might be boring but I think is the accompaniment that brighten the day. =)

Seriously, you must never doubt Lance when it comes to him bringing you out for some good food!

After having our dinner at Rocky's Pizza, Lance brought Ding Han, Terence, Clarence and I to some secluded spot deep inside Sunset Way for dessert. The small and inconspicuous shop named, The Daily Scoop, locates at Clementi Arcade. It served many many UNIQUE flavors that you will never get the chance to taste it outside. Most importantly is the price of their ice cream is affordable too.

Some recommended flavors like:

Xtra Stout, from the name, it's the taste of Guinness Stout. For my understand, there's nowhere you could find a Guinness Stout flavored ice cream. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Durian! Durian!, every single scoop of the ice cream you put into your mouth, you will taste and feel the fiber of the durian rolling on your tongue.

Other flavor like the Lychee Martini, I heard from Lance that its a MUST try! Unfortunately, we are not lucky enough to get the chance to taste it. But not to worry cause I will be back!

And good news for all vegetarians and people who doesn't take egg. Their ice cream is totally egg-free and it is also made with low fat milk, laden with lotsa fresh product!

All I can say is, its "more than just frozen delight... ..."

Overall, 9 out of a 10!!

This is my second time visiting Taiwan but this time it's with Jinrong and Zhongliang.

Stepping back onto the ground of Taiwan really bring back lots and lots of memories created with all the fellow Armour Officers of 01/10. All the roughs and toughs path we had walked though during our cadets time. =)

Putting that aside, this time returning back to Taiwan was a total different experience. Due to the fact that we are going there for leisure and not for training! A long 8 days trip allows the 3 musketeers to travel all the way down to 高雄, a 'new' area for me to explore other than 台北.

The entire trip was amazing but this trip really leave a big hole in my pocket. I guess the total amount I spent during tis trip was 1.5 months of my pay! That's extremely high!

But who cares.

钱财本来就是生外物, 死了也不能把钱带进棺材.

Batam2011

Batam2011, my first (minus away the trip to Australia) oversea trip with 7 Hawk-ists.

Batam2011 was a great getaway after so much overloaded tasking at work. We had so much fun playing water sports, massaging, shopping and eating.

I felt that everything we did in Batam were cool other than the food we ate. I was expecting something better but it turn out that the food there wasn't as great as I thought.

Water Sports: At the price of S$50, we did 3 different kinds of water sports which I didn't done before.

Jet Ski (10 min ride), Banana Boat (10 min ride) and also the Parasailing. *thumbs up for that*

Massaging is the essential for the entire trip in Batam. We constantly went for massaging during the time at Batam. The physiotherapists are small in size but when come to massage... ... =)

3 days 2 nights ended quite fast when everyone are having fun.

Soon this batch will be leaving and I foreseen that we will have this chance and time to go oversea together again. Nonetheless, I believed in a Chinese saying, "不在乎天长地久，只在乎曾经拥有"

We had all the funs, once is enough. As it's always printed and written in my memories.

Recipe: Raisin Cupcakes

Ingredients

- 320 g self raisining flour
- 60 g butter
- 60 g olive/ cooking oil
- 200 g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 bananas (Mashed)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 500 g raisin (If you like it full with raisin. If not, 300g or less)

Methods

1. Beat sugar, butter and oil.
2. Beat in the eggs one by one until batter become creamy.
3. Fold in self raising flour and cinnamon powder into the batter.
4. Lastly, add in milk, mashed banana and raisin into the mixture.
5. Fill cupcakes cup with 4/5 filled and bake cupcakes at 190 degree C for 25 minutes or until golden brown and leave it to cool.

Life in School of Armour, Officer Training Wing, is like a Sine Curve to me.

Ups and Downs.

But then, I knew there's always friends and instructors that are willing to be by my side to motivate and push me on when I'm down.

At the same time, to share my joy and fun when I'm at the peak of the curve.

Soon, we'll be separated into several units. Seriously, that is the last thing I will want it to happen in my life. But I got to understand the fact that 天底下没有不散的宴席.

Brunei Trip → Trade Phase → Section & Platoon Training → Tag Team Training → MAPEX → Taiwan Trip

Not forgetting things like Armour Happy Hours, the only time we can drink and get drunk in camp. And also appointed as Chairman of the Parents' Visiting Day, where I really learnt a lot in organizing event.

But anyway, today marks another important phase of my life - Completing the training in Armour Training Institute and proceeding back to SAFTI for the last phase of my cadet life (Joint Term)

Upon alighting from the bus and stepped onto the ground of Golf Wing, the memories just flash through my head. I remembered clearly the first day of OCS when I'm still a Junior Cadet, looking at all the smart looking Seniors. Now, I'm the Officer-to-be in 3 weeks time. The feeling is totally different from them.

Its been long since I did my last entry and I'm wondering how many of you guys were actually still reading my blog?

2 weeks of training in Taiwan had finally come to an end. I swear I wasn't really looking forward for my commission at all. Really.

Reason, I dislike the feeling of being separated from friends that I had built up strong brotherhood with. All the replies I heard was 'Meet up with them more often'.

Nah. I got tons of similar cases happening in my life.

Case Study 1:
Xinyi, Peisean, Rondy, Alvin, Jason (Clique from Secondary School). We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun... But what we have now? We have work, they have school, we had lesser time for fun...

Case Study 2:
lao Family: laoMAS? laoMAO? laoLUN? ALL like lao sai flushed into toilet bowl. Left with Joanna and I, sometime with the additional of Peiqi and Ruiheng. Not to mention Alson, who is now in Taiwan.

Case Study 3:
YEP 7 Wolves and SHE. All busy with individual work. The crazy things we did in China, the sober night we had for 2 weeks. The joy, the tears, the sweat we had. =(

Case Study 4:
BMTC friends? Not even one staying in contact... ... BROTHERs...

And now... OCS/Armour buddies...

Haiz. Most of them will be staying in Sungei Gedong Camp and only a few of us will be going over to 41 SAR at Kranji Camp... ...

Managed to meet up with Peisean and Mr Tan for lunch. The unfortunate thing was Xinyi couldn't join us for the lunch. Our poor Xinyi is contaminated with 40% H1N1. Hope she's fine and get well soon Girl.

We went to The Olive Tree cafe located in Intercontinental Hotel for High Tea Buffet. I swear to you guys that this is the best hotel buffet I ever had in my whole life. (For now)

I tried severe 5 stars hotel buffet and they were not as good as the one I had at Olive Tree cafe. There were wide range of varieties for you to choose and the dessert corner didn't fail me. And for people like Peisean who doesn't eat much, upon stepping into the cafe, she started trying and eating every single food which is laid on the buffet line.

With the price of $35++, you can try Mee Goreng, Beef Redang, Chili prawn, fried rice, Hainanese Chicken, Bak Kut Teh, Mixed Vegetable, Fried Chicken wings, Fried Fish Fingers, Seafood Pizza, many types of salad, 3 different types of bread, winter melon soup, Teochew porridge, curry chicken, dory fish in some thai sauce, rojak... ...

Sometimes, I really feel that my life is so screwed.

For the first time, I'm seriously not looking forward to book in. I guess

the 'invisible gap' between me and them is getting larger and larger. But frankly speaking, it doesn't matter to me anymore.

They are not the group of people I used to know. Fortunately I tell myself I got the other group of friends that listen, understand and care for me.

One important thing I learnt in army, "When you know you're the only black sesame seed found in a bag of white sesame seed. You don't have to be part of it. Eventually they will be part of you. (IF THEY CARE)."

Now I realized how difficult it is to be a chairman of an event. You got to run up and down, sleep less than 4 hours daily, no time for meals, squeezing brain juice, lacking behind in studies... ... ...

But fortunately I got a group of helpful and understanding committees who helped me though and made this event a success. When I'm tired, they understands and let me rest longer. When I skipped meals, they'll offer what they have to me and make sure I'm full.

Met up with Yunshan and Junhao last night for dinner at Astons. We had a great night talking and being mean once again. This time the target was rotating between Chole, Princeton and shan's Mum & Dad.

Shan was saying that her mum actually knows things about her love line. How does her mum knows when shan doesn't really mention much about her relationship in front of her mum? Only answer! PAPARAZZI!

We were saying the mum lying on the skateboard while the dad pushing behind. With the high shutter function, taking each and every move of what shan is doing. While doing so, the background music of Lady Gaga's 'Paparazzi' is played.

Anyway, it's shan who thought of all this. You evil girl!

Back to the topic. After dining at Astons, hao brought us to a place for dessert.

1 Caramel

We tried the Coconut Layer Cake, Chocolate Praline Cake, Lychee Rose and Tea-ramisu. I guess I'll still prefer the Coconut Cake served in Big O Restaurant. As for the Chocolate Praline cake, it's not really my cup of tea. So I don't really like it. Tea-ramisu was a total different from what I normally had. From the name you can actually tell how different it is right?

The only cake which I find it special is the Lychee Rose. I guess it's something that you can't really find out there. The fragrance delivered by the cake, the cake texture, the layer of lychee jelly between the cake... ... whoo~

Overall, 6.5 out of 10.

Sorry for not updating my blog frequently. I was rather busy with all trainings and lessons. It's a rare sight to see me able to sit in front of my laptop to update my blog.

Time really flies. With a blink of an eye, it's another year. The Year of Tiger. I'm a very 'pang tang' (superstitious) person. Better go online and check on my lucky for this coming Year.

Recipe: Pineapple Tart

Ingredients

Shortcrust Pastry
- 360 g plain flour
- 2 tablespoon custard power
- 250 g cold butter
- 50 g icing sugar
- 1 egg york

Pineapple Jam Filling
- 2 pineapples, grated
- 200 g sugar
- 2 cloves
- 3 cm cinnamon stick
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 egg york, beaten for glazing

Methods

Pineapple Jam Filling: Put all ingredient into a big pot, bring to boil, lower fire and leave to cook until almost dry, stir once in awhile. When almost dry, keep stirring to prevent it from burning. When mixture turns golden brown and dry, Leave to cool.

Pastry: Beat icing sugar, butter and egg york until creamy. Fold in plain flour and mix till for a dough. Leave it aside for 30 minutes. Divide dough and flatten it with palm and add filling into it. Form round shape and glaze with egg york. (For decorate and strong clove scent, add whole clove on top of tarts)

Bake tarts at 180 degree C until golden brown and leave it to cool.

Note: Pineapple tarts must be thoroughly cooled before storing so that the tarts will not turn mouldy easily.

Brunei Trip 2010

I'm so grateful that I had completed my Brunei training and here I'm still now sitting in my living room blogging about the trip.

The trainings in Brunei were neither easy nor difficult. I could say it's a brand new experience and of course if you give me another chance to go to Brunei, I WILL NOT want to go there anymore! The weather, the terrain, the R&R... everything suck!

I was kinda expecting myself to be a SHOPAHOLIC there but... I returned back to Singapore empty handed. (Excluding the hard liquor I bought from Airport)

But I do somehow enjoy my stay there.

Can't wait for the next oversea training to Taiwan! Roar!

It's the day one of 2010 and seriously, I don't feel any different from normal days. Don't you think so too?

Yunshan was pestering me the other day to post a New Year Resolution. I told her I'll do it after she starts posting one. Since she posted her resolutions, it's my turn then. I guess she expecting something funny. But no... no... no... Don't expect resolution like... erm, I don't know. Maybe things that related to Benita? Since Yunshan is so concern about her twin sister, Benita Bernie Long Li SHAN. The SHAN Sista.

Anyway! Before I go into my resolution, I'll like to flash back on 2009:

If you notice, it's mostly about ARMY. Yeah! Boring. Last year, half of the year I'm training so hard to look after the country and I believe same goes to this year. The training will be even tougher than the shit I got from OCS.

I decided to keep my Resolution for 2010 short.

Christmas Celebration @ 191209

It's my first time attending a Christians' Christmas celebration. It's really something new for me. Thou some part of the celebration really made me bored, but I still managed to find ways to entertain myself and at the same time being entertained by my cousins and some new friends who I got to know on that day.

The home made dessert was awesome. Especially the Tiramisu done by Uncle Stephen's church friends. But not to worry, I knew what to do and I got the nice nice Tiramisu recipe from his friend and luck ones will have the chance to try my home made Tiramisu! =)

We did a little gifts exchange that day too. Brought my Gingies down for exchange and got myself a FREE shirt, Swiss Roll towel and a box of Famous Amos cookies!

I seriously enjoy myself so much that day and I'll not miss celebration like this next time if I'm ask to attend! But of course, it must be done with the right party.

Training to be an Armour Officer

Swift and Decisive

After three months of training in OCS, I'm moving on to Sungei Gedong Camp for my Pro Term training. And training in Sungei Gedong will take half of the year to complete before I commission as an officer.

This term will be kinda rush and fast for me. Upon reporting to my new camp, the next day we'll be going to Brunei for SOCJOC. We'll be mainly doing navigation in jungle. I'm kinda excited for the trip and it's gonna be a ten day trips to Brunei. Can't wait for the next term to start. But at the same time, I'll need to enjoy my civilian life before the 'many many' field camps start.

Recipe: Kueh Keria

Baking and Cooking mood. I just can't sit still on my sofa. I love to make myself busy even though I know that I dun have to. I went into the kitchen and this sweet potato drew my attention.

So I decided to cook it and eat it. Green bean soup with sweet potato? Too simple. Sweet potato with ginger soup? Always making. Turned on my lappy and browsed via Nibbledish and found the recipe for Kueh Keria (Sweet Potato Donut).

Ingredients

- 600 g sweet potatoes (boil and mash)
- 128 g plain flour
- 256 g brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- A pinch of salt

Methods

Boil sweet potatoes until soft than put in a pinch of salt and mash the potatoes.
Put in plain flour bit by bit and kneads ingredients until mix well.
Scoop 2 tablespoon and roll on your palm to make a small ball. Shape it round and dig a hole in the middle like donut.
Heat deep frying oil and fry until turn light brown.

FOR COATING:

Heat frying pan without oil, add in water then sugar.
Cook until sugar dissolved and syrup turn thick.
Deep in all the sweet potatoes donut at one go and coat it well until all covered with sugar.
Wait till cold then serve.

Note: Recipe is taken from Nibbledish. Slight changes had been made on the recipe for personal preference. I had replaced the white sugar with brown sugar instead. Reason being, it's healthier! For original recipe, please click here.

Recipe: Gingerbread Men

Gingies are baked, dressed, packed and ready to be served. Gingies below are 100% made by me and is not purchased.

Ingredients

- 235 ml dark molasses
- 585 g plain flour
- 145 g brown sugar
- 105 ml water
- 70 g shortening
- 5/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 5/4 teaspoons ground ginger
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Methods

Mix together the molasses, brown sugar and water.
Sift together the flour, shortening, baking soda, salt, allspice, ginger, cloves and cinnamon. Add to sugar mixture and mix well.
Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or for better result, left it in fridge overnight.
Preheat the oven to 175 degrees C. Lightly grease one cookie sheet.
Roll dough 1/4 inch thick on floured board. Cut with floured gingerbread cutter. Place about 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
Bake for 10-12 minutes.
Cool and decorate with frosting.

Christmas is just around the corner and I'm seriously excited over it! And since I haven been baking for months, I think I'm gonna take this festive season as an opportunity to bake.

If we are talking about Christmas now, and of course, I'll be baking GINGERBREAD MEN!

Need not suffer from severe headache over what to give and what to buy.

If you are looking for low in price yet delicious and filling late night supper, I'll recommend Shun Li Yong Tau Foo 顺利酿豆腐. It is first recommended by Jessica. One interesting part of Shun Li Yong Tau Foo is that the food are served in big metal bowl which looks like the basin people used to wash their face in the olden days.

The Yong Tau Foo is topped with Ikan Bilis, which act as booster to boost up the taste of the soup and rice vermicelli is topped with sweet sauce and fried wanton skin which makes you feel like eating more.

You'll notice 15 to 30 minutes before opening hours of stall, Shun Li 'fans' will all be sitting patiently waiting for the stall to open. Upon opening, Shun Li customers charged forward like how Singaporean does during the Singapore Year End Sale.

It is definitely not recommended for people who are impatient. The queue is long and you got to wait for estimated time of 30 to 45 minutes before the spotlight shines on you.

Overall, 9 out of 10.

P.S: Somehow I think when Jessica saw this entry, she will plan the next meet up with her Yong Tau Foo supper club mates. LOL.

I swear it's weird to see JUNIORS drinking with you. But on the other hand, when you got the chance to see them half drunk, you will enjoy and entertain by their action. Alright, maybe not drunk, just HIGH.

That day, the sun rises from the west and sets on the east. Why say so? Benita actually joined us for the gathering. We actually sat down and had a long talk, normally. I was telling her that I should bring her to the Social Night and let her get herself an officer boyfriend. She was telling me she will not want an army guy as boyfriend and I was psycho-ing her and stuff.

Yesterday night was really that fun compared to the previous visits to other clubs. I guess Phuture is too packed and everyone is like sardines dancing in can. However, the music played was great! Overall, I had a great night with them!

It has been quite sometime since the last entry. But since this week I'll be having an extremely long weekend, I'll enjoy myself to the fullest and do multitask in a day!

If you're wondering what's taking me so long to update every single entry, no doubt, it's the tight schedule I had in army. Even if I got to book out, it's only less than 24 hrs. Suck isn't it? But we got to suck it up.

Anyway! I got tons of things to blog during MIA period. But I guess I shall dump those entries away cause I guess it's either the entries are way to long ago or I had forgotten about it. Nonetheless, congratulate my cousin and Freddy! 祝你新婚愉快！早生贵子！白头到老！

My family and I attended the wedding dinner that day and coincidentally my eldest brother saw his primary school friend, I saw Liting on the wedding dinner and even our neighbour from previous flat.
If you are wondering why I saw Liting there, it's because my cousin is married to her cousin. Haha. Coincident enough?

Alright, I guess I'm gonna stop here. I'm not gonna sit down at home all the way. I'm going out to make things happen so I'm able to blog more! =)

Yo yo yo~ guess who's back?!

I do have a computer in bunk but since there's no photos to post and no leaking of secret of OCS. I don't really see the point of updating anything. I believe none of the blog reader will like to know what I'm doing in camp.

Just try to imagine a similar entry repeating for the entire 4 weeks with no photos attach to it. How bored it is, right?

Anyway, I had endure till the forth week and going to the fifth. How fast time pass in OCS. One month down and eight more months to go. There's tons of confinements and remedial trainings awaiting.

If you are wondering what had I done for the pass 4 weeks, all I can say in blog is doing lots of exercise, technical handling of some cool weapons and lots of STUDIES!

You guys might think that going to Army is only exercise, punishment and sleep. But I'm here to change your mindset. As Army is going towards 3rd Generation, we, the poor soldiers, got tons to read up and also learning of advanced technologies. But somehow it's really fun!

Other than doing all the things mentioned above,we also had our OCS Family Day on the 2nd week of the confinement. So other inviting my Mum and Aunty Nancy, I had invited friends to the Family Day.

Really got to thank Junhao, Joanna and Yunshan for taking up their precious time to come and visit me during the confinement week. You might think that I'm being mushy here but I got to tell you guys being confined for 3 week in camp with platoon mates that you don't really know them well is tough. Upon seeing CLOSE friends and relatives, you'll know how important are they in your life.

So, other than training us to be physically fit, I guess OCS did a great job on changing cadets' thinking and letting us understand the importance of family and friends.

I guess I'm too long winded here. Gonna cut the entry short and show you guys some photos taken during the OCS Family Day.

This is called the SAFTI Tower and I swear to you guys that the view from top is spectacular! The top of the tower is designed with 3 sides and each individual side has different meaning to it. It consisted of an aerial view of HDB which symbolised HOME, aerial view of a 24 hours non stop working port which symbolised WORK and last but not least the aerial view of OCS and other Army camps around it which symbolised ARMY.

The first week of the confinement, we were made to run from the first floor of the tower to top of it. Who the fuck will think it's fun when you're doing it early in the morning like 6am! But upon seeing the sun rise from the tower, all the pain we had during the climb were all wiped off.

Not forgetting the home cooked food prepared by my Mum. Love my Mum so much! Gonna thank her for waking up early to prepare such mouthwatering meal for me and my friends. The food might be simple but it's heart warming!

Enjoy your 'holidays' as much as you can. Cause some of my unlucky Muslim friends got to book in tomorrow and gonna miss the paying visit and stuff.

Tomorrow will be the day! Erm. The FIRST day in OCS. Hope that everything will goes smoothly till the end of Commission. I know I can. I will overcome all odds and strive till the end. *bleh*

Nonsense.

But I, seriously, hope I could do something to let my parent feel proud about me. Not saying I'm always letting them down. This is something extra I'm doing for them. Right?

I'll be confined for the next 3 weeks. I don't mind the confinement if I got good buddy to share bunk with. Because it will be 2 beds per room and which means it's only me and my buddy in a room. I want a fun and wild buddy. Of course, he got to be helpful too. Not a nerd, not a bossy one and most importantly not some boring people.

I heard that there will be personal computer in each bunk too. But chances are, the PC will only be placed there and we'll hardly have time to use it. Come on. I know the Sirs will say things like, "You guys are here to train. Not to use computers. If you want to use, might as well Out Of Course (OOC) now. Don't waste your time; don't waste my time."

The computer in bunk will be like the Recruits' relaxing room, street soccer field and basketball court we had in Tekong. Can see, cannot touch. *shrug*

What to do? We're TRAINEE. :)

Alright. Got to stop all the complains and get some sleep now. If not I wouldn't be able to wake up tomorrow morning.

Posting are out. Some are happy and some are not. People who are happy, good for you. People who are not, suck it up. I think the only thing to blame is the system.

Unfortunately, the Company Best from the Best Company, Jaguar Company, didn't get into OCS. How unlucky. But I'm sure somehow, he'll be able to crossover to OCS after SISPEC. All I can do is to wish him all the best and hope he gets into OCS after SISPEC.

If you are wondering how am I feeling now, I can only tell you that I'm excited about going back camp on the 22nd September. But somehow, I'm worried about other factors that I guess I wouldn't be elaborate more in here. All I want is to complete the course and feel proud of what I had done in OCS. Hope nothing will stop me.

One more bad new, I'll be confine for 3 weeks in camp. I heard there's computer in bunk, but I doubt we will actually have the time to use it. And I can forseen that there's tons of fire drill in first 2 weeks and of course, without saying, if we don't meet timing for every fuck shit we are supposed to do, I'm prepared for some blood to be pumped into my brain. That's military life and I had accepted it. Have you? LOL!

136 Hong Kong Street Fish Head Steamboat

Comment: When you pass but Neil Road, the first thing that will actually caught your eye is the crowd in a coffeeshop located the end of the road. It's none other than the '香港街鱼头炉'.

Because there's only Junhao and I, so the food we ordered weren't alot. We ordered the main dish which is the fish head steamboat (鱼头炉), crispy prawn paste chicken (虾酱鸡) and Mongolian Style Tofu (蒙古式豆腐).

The fish head steamboat comes in varies choices. Different kind of fish for selection and if you are someone who doesn't eat fish because of the bones, you can order the fish slice steamboat and I bet it taste equally well.

Next, the Mongolian Style Tofu which I think it's nice and unique. The texture and taste of this dish reminds me of mashed potato topped with black pepper seafood. One thing is that the price is slightly higher. $18 for this Mongolian Style Tofu. Hmm.

The prawn paste chicken is supposingly to be the chef recommended, but I'll not recommending that. I had tasted nicer prawn paste chicken elsewhere.

Overall, 7 out of 10. Give it a try. I guess I'll bring my dad to try out the food since he loves fish head steamboat so much.

It's a rare scene to see the ten of us gathered together for dinner. Everyone is busy with either work or studies. Thanks for taking out some of your precious time to make this dinner a very memorable one.

一转眼, the ten of us had knew each other for three years. It's not easy to maintain such friendship when everyone is busy with their individual commitment. But to a certain extend, this group of friends had proven me wrong. I can proud to say that I'm a lucky chap, because most of the friendship I had are like them.

Who need thousands of friend but only one out of the thousand really care for you. Right?

POP loh!!!!!!! Now you can call me Private Toh cause I'm no longer a Recruit. ^^

I've actually spent my birthday in camp and I swear it's the toughest birthday I had ever been though in my life!

How do I celebrate? I celebrated my birthday by marching 24km with a field bag weighing like a ton with LVB and rifle on.

To be frank, I felt like giving up so many time during the march. But I'm so glad I didn't give up and endure though the whole route march. Of course, I got to thank people who talked to me during the walk to distract me from the pain and people who listened to my complain. LOL.

Like there's a chinese saying, "天底下没有不散的宴席"

Which means that there's never be a banquet that will never end. Every thing will come to an end. Same goes to my BMT life. But at least I told myself I had gain lots of experience and lose 7kg! That's not the important part! The other important thing I know I had gain is Friendship. Malay friend, Indian friend, Chinese friend, noisy friend, animal looking friend, 'Girl'-friend... ...

...and Seragents and Officers that had looked after us during this three months of training...

...how can I forget the person who carried me in her stomach for ten months and always be there when there are important events like this. Always taking good care of me and make sure I'm well fed. Thanks Mum.

This year, additional love from my relatives and knowing new friends in army is the best present I had even receive in my whole life. It worth more than anything else because it's PRICELESS.

The End Of Phrase One

Three months of Basic Military Training life is finally coming to an end. Though this training, I got to know so many friends from different individual background. Platoon mate like Yao Zhong De, the Pro Yo-Yo player; Richard Kong, the guy with a GPA of 3.99 and award winner of the Lee Kuan Yew Award. Don't you think they are special?

Not forgetting each and everyone in my bunk:

Guoquan aka CASH, Rias aka F.S, Richard, Weixiong aka Monjo JOJO, Fattah, Kenneth, Boon Hao, Sara aka Tamil Leopard, Raj the grizzly bear, Haikuan and Kenny.

They are the one who went though toughs and roughs with me. I guess the memorable thing that we will never forget were the 'chaos' and laughter brought by Kenny and Raj. But I got to save the biggest THANK YOU to my buddy, Tie Boon Hao, who helped me and took good care of me when I'm in need. Thanks bro. And congrat on the Company Best PT.

Not forgetting 2LTA Wiggy, 2nd SG Ronald, 3SG Han Rui, Arif, Kevin and Jonathan.

Soon, we will be having our last 24KM route march together as one and we'll be separated to different unit. I sincerely hope that everyone will enter the unit they wanted to go and meet up more often.

13 weeks of Recruit life is coming to an end. 2 more weeks and we'll be though! Hopefully I'll stand a chance to get into Command School. That's part of my wish now.

After so so so much of physical training sessions in army, I seen lots of improvement on myself. But I know it's not enough! My standing board jump suck! SBJ is the only station I couldn't do well!

I FAILED my IPPT because of this and I know that I could simply obtain a Silver if my SBJ performed better. I'm seriously praying so hard that I could perform well for the final IPPT next week!

I'm back from my six days field camp. Though this six days, I had learned, seen, handled and experienced lots of things.

I guess the toughest part of the camp is practically the high kneeling part. In order to avoid being spotted by enemies, all of us got to do high kneel to keep ourselves low. The more we kneel, the more bruises I got.

I also experienced being a Company In Charge during the camp. Things were not as easy as I thought. Being an In Charge of the entire company and kept things running smoothly wasn't easy. From organizing manpower to passing down important messages without breaking it. Oh yeah, and communication between IC and sub-ICs, while I think I had failed on. I was quite disappointed with myself thou.

Other than the minor failures I had made during the field camp, memorable things like first time seeing fireflies and get closed to a wild boar made my field camp an unforgettable one. For now I'm sitting in my living room, all I could flash back was the beautiful scenes of fireflies flying around me. Instead of all the tough trainings and painful punishment we got during our outfield.

I know I'm growing stronger day by day and most importantly is experiencing things that changes my mind and point of views.

Last by not least, I'm so grateful to have such thoughtful and understanding Sergeants and Sirs in my platoon.

Anyway, I'll try my best to update more.

Every morning, I'll feel so blessed to see the morning sun and knowing that I managed to stay alive instead of leaving my love ones behind.

I woke up this morning and took my temperature. Unfortunately, the temperature didn't went down but remains on the high peak.

I had been taking medicine on time and drank lots of water but still there's no improvement and even sign of recovering.

FUCK!

Yesterday was my book out day and I was fine in the morning. Until it was about time to go home I got fever! Damn fucking unlucky I can say.

The Sergent was like saying most probably I'm unable to go home. I was stunted and get so worried.

Good thing is I'm able to reach home safely and I couldn't say I'm fine now cause I'm still having fever. And I'm taking some social responsibilities like wearing mask even I'm at home. I looked like some psychotic doctor walking around the house.

Anyway, hopefully I'm not contacted with H1N1, if not I'll be the first case in my company and I don't want to be famous though is virus!

Damn it! The important thing is I'm having some important shooting on Monday and I couldn't attend it due to the 7 days of MC.

Home sweet home!

If you're wondering how I looked like when my hair is gone? Here you go...

Life in army wasn't that bad afterall. I'm somehow adapted to life in it. But still, there's some things I yet to adapt.

My bunk mates are great people. Just that, you know, there will be one or two I won't like.

Anyway, 3 weeks down and 2 more months to go till I POP and my POP date falls on my birthday. What a lucky day! Hope I got time to celebrate after POP!! Not forgetting that I still got the tiring 24km route march on my day. 'Lucky'

Due to lack of time, nothing much will be updated here but I'll try to when I'm free.
